MedicalEdge Healthcare Group chooses Hayes’ MDaudit™
Audit automation software aids physician group support services
Newton, MA, January 20, 2009 – Hayes Management Consulting announced today that it will provide its MDaudit™ software to MedicalEdge Healthcare Group, Inc. (MEHG). MEHG provides medical practice support services to physician group clients. By automating the administrative aspects of billing compliance auditing, MDaudit significantly improves audit productivity, increases audit accuracy and quality, maximizes revenue and provides a standardized, streamlined environment for compliance departments. It is currently in use at seven of the top fifteen healthcare organizations in the country, as identified by US News & World Report.
“One of our major goals is to more efficiently and rigorously review and monitor the coding and billing practices of our practitioner clients,” says José Tabuena, Chief Governance and Compliance Officer at MEHG. “Because of the large number of providers we support, it became essential for us to enhance our productivity while continually improving our audit accuracy. The automation of our manual review processes will better enable the Compliance Department to provide feedback and other support to help providers with their coding.”
MDaudit was designed to help organizations reduce compliance risk by increasing productivity so that more time can be allotted to physician education. This is even more crucial now, with increased regulatory activity in RAC Audits and the expanding OIG Workplan.
Some organizations have taken this a step further, using the recovered time to review and correct not just overcoding, but undercoding as well – ensuring that physicians are paid correctly for services rendered. Some have also used the extra time to help physicians with coding up front, to the benefit of patients and the organization.
“When services are properly coded, everyone wins,” says Pete Butler, President of Hayes Management Consulting. “Compliance officers can mitigate risk, financial executives can monitor the ‘money left on the table’ through undercoding, and physicians can enjoy accelerated reimbursement and enhanced coding education.”
